Dr. Fridie received his B.S. degree from the Baptist College at Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, a Masters degree in Education from TSU and a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

He completed externship training in Podiatric Medicine at the St. Albans VA and the Hospital of Joint Diseases in New York. Dr. Fridie has done research at the University of Houston and the National Institutes of Health - Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and has taught on the college level.
